Dear Parents, Teachers and Students,
Welcome to Term 4
A very warm welcome back to Mt Carmel to all students and families; it is so lovely having everyone back in our classrooms and playground.
Until further noticed we will continue to operate under Level 3 restrictions. As such, we are unable to hold any face-to-face whole-school gatherings, even outdoors, and non-essential visitors are not permitted on the school site. This includes parents, with the exception of specific emergency or wellbeing reasons. Consequently, parents should, where possible, remain outside school grounds at drop-off and pick-up times, and if they must enter for emergency or wellbeing reasons, sign in and out with the Service NSW app, wear a mask and maintain appropriate physical distance from others. The school canteen will be operating on Thursdays and Fridays, but with a limited menu and pre-orders only for both recess and lunch – no counter sales.
At this stage I do not have any information about when we will move down from Level 3, but I am hopeful that as restrictions are eased across NSW, in accordance with the government COVID roadmap, the same will happen in schools. Exactly how any restrictions will impact our usual Term 4 events (Kinder Orientation, Infants’ swimming lessons, Presentation Night, Christmas Concert, Year 6 Graduation and Farewell) remains to be seen, but please be assured that I will keep everyone up-to-date with any developments as soon as they occur.
Free Parenting Webinars this Weekend
This Friday to Sunday a free Online Parenting Summit on parenting for resilience, confidence and independence is being held, featuring a wide range of well-known presenters. Topics that may be of interest include dealing with big feelings, improving sleep patterns and eating habits, sibling rivalry, and childhood anxiety. May God’s peace be in your families,
Religious Education in the Classroom
Welcome to Term 4. I trust that you have had a relaxing holiday break and enjoyed quality time with your family. Below is a collection of work from Term 3.
Task: You are invited to create an artwork that shows the world of wonder. It can be a collage or painting, or your own choice of artwork. Add a short prayer thanking God of His wonderful creations.
Prayers of Thanks
Thank you God for nature.
Catholic Mission supports children, communities and Church leaders around the world, including remote Australia. Grassroots needs are identified by local Catholics to give all people the opportunity for a full, enriched life–physically and spiritually–regardless of race, religion, gender or stigma. As the Pope’s international mission agency, we respond to the call to love God and to love our neighbour by forming individuals and communities as missionary disciples of Jesus who share their faith in action and through prayer. We share in God’s mission to reach out, and give life by sharing our personal and financial resources to:
- proclaim the Gospel;
- serve people in need;
- act for peace, justice and creation; in partnership with local churches so that all may have life in Christ.
“Love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another.” John 13:34.
Mt Carmel School will be organising a few fundraising events during Catholic Mission Month. The first event will be announced in next week’s newsletter.
Let us be still and ask the Holy Spirit to be with us.
Dear Father,
Be with us as we pray.
Open our ears to hear your Word in the Gospel.
Unite us in faith, hope and love as we pray together.
Send your Holy Spirit to inspire and sustain us in our mission.
We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
I invite you to participate in a 3 minute prayer reflecting on a Scripture passage.

Lunch tubs will be collected from the canteen at both recess and lunch by each class. All items ordered will be delivered to the classrooms in these tubs.
This week, ice creams will not be available to puchase at lunch time, as due to hot lunch items being sent in tubs to the classrooms, ice creams will melt. Ice creams will be available at recess time only.
Please order all recess and lunch orders via Qkr before 9am on Thursday and Friday mornings.
If you have any questions regarding the canteen menu, please email emma.mcevoy@cg.catholic.edu.au or call the office on 6226 3357.
